The Prospective Marriage (Subclass 300) visa for Australia is sometimes referred to more broadly as a fiancé visa.


The visa allows you to:


  • travel to, enter and remain in Australia for 9 months
  • work in Australia
  • access public healthcare in Australia
  • include in your application dependent children
  • apply for a Partner visa once you have entered in a legal marriage with the sponsor

To be eligible for this visa you to demonstrate that:


  • you are engaged to be married to the Australian citizen, Permanent Resident or Eligible New Zealand citizen (sponsor)
  • you and the sponsor are both over 18 years old at the time of application
  • you and the sponsor have met in person since both parties have turned 18 years old
  • you and the spo

To be eligible for this visa you to demonstrate that:


  • you are engaged to be married to the Australian citizen, Permanent Resident or Eligible New Zealand citizen (sponsor)
  • you and the sponsor are both over 18 years old at the time of application
  • you and the sponsor have met in person since both parties have turned 18 years old
  • you and the sponsor have both consented to the marriage
  • you and the sponsor are both free to marry
  • you and the sponsor intend to legally enter into a valid marriage
